After a clean install windows 11, Thunderbird 102.1.2 doesn't check password.
Hello,
I did a clean install windows 11 21H2, installed Thunderbird 102.1.1 and later 102.1.2 in the wizard i copyed my password and all the other info imap, after pressing ready checking password keeps on checking noting happens.
My password is correct and also all the other setting.
Must be a bug in the program.

Try it again without the password. You can add the password after Thunderbird confirms other settings.

Still not working, after leaving the password empty, i press ready and i get a other screen with a window with this info: Login to server imap.t-mobilethuis.nl with username XXXX failed.
Thunderbird was working with version 9 and upgade to 102 now with a clean install windows 11 i have this bug.
On my other pc windows 10, i also upgraded from 9 to 102 and Thunderbird is working.
This is a bug in the program with windows 11 clean install.

I found the problem in the wizard Thunderbird is asking for the email address, later thunderbird is splitting the email address XXXX@t-mobilethuis.nl and is using the XXXX for username but my username is the whole email address.
With older versions of Thunderbird it used only the 1st part of the email address for the user name..

No. The user name requirement is defined by the email host, not Thunderbird. Regardless, I hope your issue is resolved.
This is a bug in Thunderbird, in the wizard the program is asking for the email address and is splitting it in half and thats why the password cant be checked.
Older versions never had this problem, i never can use the wizard now with version 102.1.2
The 1st part of the email address XXXX is used as the username and thats why the wizard cant check the password, this makes the wizard part useless.
The wizard is asking for my name, email address, password. and incoming, outgoing server settings then it checks with the email server and fails, because it uses the wrong username.

My testing doesn't confirm that. You need more to define this as a bug, as thousands have used the new wizard with no problems.
Is your email address also split in XXXX and then the rest @XXXXXXXX and the 1st part is used as the username when u use the wizard?
When i use the wizard it fails at password check, when i leave the password empty en press ready, the server settings say username is XXXX and not XXXX@t-mobilethuis.nl.

In the settings then privacy & security then passwords I miss smtp://smtp.t-mobilethuis.nl, only imap://imap.t-mobilethuis is there.
In my other PC with windows 10 where I upgraded to Thunderbird 102 both smtp and imap can be seen.
I did a test, i send a email to myzelf xxxxxx@t-mobilethuis.nl Thunderbird came with a windows asking for the password, i filled in the password, and then it came with a windows that failed to login to server smtp with username xxxxxx. It still uses the wrong username.

Because of this bug its not possible to sent a email, when i want to send a email it will ask for my password every time and fills in the wrong username, when i fill in the correct username it still doenst work and ask again the same thing and in the settings at password more lines will come with smpt.

I'm asking because I've been told it's been behaving this way since at least version 52.
I never had this problem with version 91.xx, before the clean install windows 11 i uninstalled version 91.xx and installed v102.xx and everthing was working, now with a clean install windows 11 i have this problem.
Sending a email doesnt work, even if the username and password are correct.
I will make a youtube movie for proof, only my email address will show in the wizard.
I added my Gmail to thunderbird and with Gmail i could send a email.
With T-mobile i cant send a email.
When i fill in my gmail account in the wizard it filles as username my whole email address, when i fill in my T-mobile account in the wizard it filles in only the part before the @.
With version 91 it always also filled in only the part of the email address before the @ but this was never i problem.

You would need to edit some settings because it would seem Thunderbird has some old server configuration settings.
Thunderbird will try to locate server settings / configuration but it does not know every one that exists. So there are occasions when it needs manually editing.
So, you would use whatever settings are being advised by t-mobilethuis.nl
They say use the following. Which means you would need to do some editing.
T-Mobile mail Settings IMAP (Recommended)
Incoming server: imap.t-mobilethuis.nl – SSL and port 993 Username: T-Mobile email address Password: T-Mobile email password
Outgoing server: smtp.t-mobilethuis.nl – TLS (587), SSL ( 465)
Username: T-Mobile email address
Password: T-Mobile email password
Note: smtp Port 578 would use 'Connection Security 'STARTTLS' in Thunderbird. But it states you need to use full email address as username for both incoming imap and outgoing smtp.
Are you saying that on Windows 11 - TB v102.1.2 using the server settings as stated by t-mobilethuis.nl it is not working? Because it seems they fail when you do not use the advised settings. In which case, the only issue is the fact that Thunderbird is not up to date with configuration settings.
It cannot be a bug in Thunderbird v102.1.2 if you have to use the full email address because that is what the server settings say to use.
