i have a mac and i need to delete it but it won't delete because it won't go to the trash can anyone help me?

i downloaded firefox to see if it would load a website i was trying to go on, but it didn't so now i want to delete it off my macbook, i have tried to drag it from the applications and drag it to the trash bin but i would not go. i'm desperate can anyone please help me?
