Despite resetting the home page, I can't remove Start.qone8.com as my home page.
My home page seems to have been hijacked. Despite using the home page settings it continues to come up with Start.qone8.com. I tried using the Reset Firfox and that hasn't helped either.
Chosen solution
Just removed it. All you need to do is: 1) Download ADWCleaner (free) http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ 2) Check browser \ dns settings. Remove Start.qone8.com there
Link to remove-funmoods guide removed by moderator. The guide links to a malware removal tool that starts a SpyHunter-Installer.exe download. Enigma Software's SpyHunter is a questionable product that may be difficult to uninstall. The "free" scanner only detects malware and requires payment before malware is actually removed. Hi Bart10,
To change the homepage kindly follow the following instructions:
Go to the page you want to set as your homepage > Click the Orange Firefox button > Click the small arrow on the side of the Options button > Click the Options from the drop down list > Click the General tab on the top > Select Use Current Pages > This will set the current page as your homepage
To set a Homepage from a bookmark , Click "'Use Bookmark"' instead of Use Current Pages
Please Report back if that helped. Thanks
Try this guide which is about manual removal of browser hijackers - http://www.system-tips.net/guide-to-fix-browser-redirection-and-remove-browser-hijackers/ Do not download any program. This should help you remove start.qone8.com and search.qone8.com from your browser
It sounds like you have a third party program that has taken over your search engine, home page, and/or the default new tab page. Fortunately, this can be remedied easily:
- At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP), and then click Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
- In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions panel.
- Select the toolbar you wish to remove.
- Click the remove button.
- Click "Restart now" if it pops up. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.
After Firefox restarts, install the Search Reset Tool. This will remove the rest of the traces of this program from your Firefox.
