After finding the sort feature under view not organize, I sorted them alphabetically. I did this multiple times using both the alphabetic feature and the A-Z feature but they revert to a random order in both the show bookmarks menu and on the bookmarks toolbar. I did have an auto sort add on enabled.

Chosen solution

The Views menu in the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) is for viewing the bookmarks in a different sorting order (hence the name Views) and doesn't sort bookmarks permanently.

In Firefox the option to sort bookmarks is only available for folders and not for individual bookmarks.
Right-click a folder to open the context menu and choose "Sort By Name" in the left pane of the Bookmarks Manager or in the sidebar to sort the bookmarks alphabetically or drag bookmarks to the wanted position.
If dragging doesn't work then use Cut and Paste instead.

hello, if you want to sort a folder alphabetically, right-click it and choose "sort by name".

Hi dino.conte, are you trying to sort the bookmarks as viewed in the Library dialog or on the actual Bookmarks Menu, Bookmarks Sidebar, or Bookmarks Toolbar?

Which method did you try that didn't work for you?

The author of the SortPlaces extension became disenchanted with Mozilla and pulled all his add-ons. They are still downloadable from some places on the web, but make sure you find a trustworthy source. A past discussion here in the forum can be found here: How do I sort ALL my bookmarks into alphabetical order with ONE CLICK?

Sort bookmarks in the Bookmarks Manager does not work, the bookmarks remain unsorted.

This hap only on my Linux system. In work on Windows XP, the sorting works fine. In both cases, I work with Firefox 23.0.1

You can't sort RSS Live feed items if that is what you try to do. Those feed items are loaded via an XML file from the server and are displayed as coded in the feed XML file that is send by the server.

No. I realize that I can not sort the feeds, but only the headline. Moreover, not only the bookmarks of feeds are affected, but also the normal bookmarks.

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

I even created a new profile - nothing helps. Maybe it's the Linux environment. I'll ask the archlinux support.

The problem is solved, it was not as expected in Firefox:

In / ect / locale.conf the entry

LC_COLLATE = C

change to

LC_COLLATE=de_DE.utf8

That is all ;-)
