After updating to Firefox 4, when I close a popup window firefox asks ...

"You are about to close ## tabs. Are you sure you want to continue?". <Close Tabs> <Cancel>

Previous versions of firefox simply closed the popup, returning me to the browser from where the popup was launched.

I'd like the same thing to happen in Firefox 4, (Close the popup and that's it), rather than have to click <Cancel> each time a popup window is closed.

This happens for example when viewing a gallery photo in an auction listing on eBay Australia.

Any help appreciated.

For anyone with this problem, it may be worth looking at what Add-Ons you have running with Firefox.

I've managed to fix my problem by turning off each Add-On then re-starting Firefox to see if the Pop-Up issue was still there.

Try turning on Add-Ons one at a time, then restart Firefox and see if the Pop-Up problem comes back.

I did this and found that the Add-On "Awesome Screenshot - Capture and Annotate 1.0.3" was causing the problem, so I disabled it and the problem was fixed.

Another Add-On may be causing your problem, but this was my culprit.

Hope this helps anyone with this issue.

Thanks.

I also had the problem & fixed it by disabling Awesome Screenshot add-on... I am on Windows 7 Ultimate and using Firefox 3 side-by-side with Firefox 4 (installed in a separate directory) by managing 2 profiles.

Whenever (any site) I open a pop-up like zooming into a photo (example below) it displays fine, but on pressing ALT-F4 (or clicking the X) to close a pop-up, it asks to close ALL browser tabs in Firefox.

Re-enabling the Awesome Screenshot add-on brings the problem back.

EXAMPLE: Click Zoom or graphic to launch pop-up: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/shop_parts/exhaust_manifold/ford/expedition.html

I have the same problem using firefox 4 with Linux Ubuntu 10.10, and not only with popups.

Same thing happens when trying to close any new window. To be exact firefox doesn't close the first window it only displays a prompt "your'e about to close xx tabs" but clicking "close tabs" doesn't actually close them. Another thing is that the problem only occurs in a situation when there are only two windows, and the second one has only one tab opened. There is no problems closing any windows above the number of two, or when the are multiple tabs in the second window.

Disabling the prompt also solves the problem:) i hope you manage to do something to fix it thou, so we can all have awesome screenshonts with prompts enabled:)

Hi Joel,

Thanks for developing such a useful screenshot capture utility. I still use the Awesome Screenshot add-on when I need to (by enabling it in Firefox), then disabling afterwards.

If you're able to look into the 'close all tabs' issue that would be great. I use Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2, and the latest Firefox (4.0).

Any URL I access that opens a Pop-Up window will generate the 'close all tabs' issue when that Pop-Up window is closed. An example is below...

http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=LM1654&SPECIAL=SPEC&form=SPECIAL

(Click on the Magnet photo to open the Pop-Up window with an enlarged view of the product. When the window is closed the 'close all tabs' question is asked.)

Kind Regards.

Hi joechruch,

Glad the tip has helped you with the pop-up issue.

With luck the Developer of Awesome Screenshot will release an update in the future that overcomes this problem.

Cheers.

Well I have never heard of Awesome Screenshot but have the same problem so its not just that add on. I have many and don't have time to test them all now.

Also if adobe reader opens when close it the close all tabs window shows up even when its a pdf file that opens.

Hi, Joel, I'm using Firefox 4 64-bit on Ubuntu 64-bit and Firefox 4 32-bit on Ubuntu 32-bit on another machine. Both with Awesome Screenshot, now disabled most of time. Hope you can fix it, it's a great extension and I plan to use it more.

I had the same problem, but mine was caused by the Open Document in Google Docs Viewer 1.1.2 plugin. After deactive it, all works ok.
