Chosen solution

Yes, all your personal information is stored in your profile folder.

Again, see Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles to manually back up your profile folder. That article also has information on what information is stored where (e.g. Places.sqlite for bookmarks and history).

So back that up manually, uninstall Firefox, and remove the profile folder. Then you should be able to do a completely clean install and then restore your settings accordingly.

Have you tried to see if Firefox can start up in Safe mode?

See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles to back up your profile folder, which contains your bookmarks and all your personal settings.

already tried the safe mode. It doesn't open anyway. Is it possible to back up my bookmarks even if firefox can not be open? Is there a place in my mac where these information are stored?
