After adding my nextcloud calendar via CalDAV in Thunderbird 115 (no plugin) I can perfecly add or remove events to the calendar and they get synced well, however, if I receive a notification the button to dismiss them does not do a thing. Firat I thought this is related to Birthday reminders, but it is also true for events I have added to the standard calendar via Thunderbird.

Sorry if this is a double post, but I only found similar issues with older versions of Thunderbird and a plugin for the calendar.

Chosen solution

I have found a solution to this problem, I have set the nextcloud contacts birthday calendar to read only, now I can dismiss the notification as intended.

I am running Thunderbird 115 in win11 BTW, but I doubt it makes a difference.

i was wrong, it works for normal calendar entries, it just takes a few seconds. But it does not work for birthdays of contacts as it seems. still a bit of an annoyance
