Swipe gesture not working for going back and forward

more options

I have never had trouble with swiping left and right with 2 fingers to go back and forward between webpages. Recently, this has stopped working. I have updated Firefox to 111.0 and have double checked the browser.gesture settings as being "Browser:BackOrBackDuplicate" and the corollary for forward. This is for Firefox on a Mac Air running Ventura. Any advice is appreciated.

Chosen solution

After a lot of back and forth with Apple I found the aggravatingly simple solution. There is a new-ish setting under the Trackpad Settings called "Swipe between pages." In my case, this was turned off for some reason when I did the recent OS update. Not knowing this existed, I didn't know it could be turned off. You can find it under Settings > Trackpad > More Gestures - it will be the first option.
