I continually have problems getting to the internet. I receive the following messages every time. It takes many attempts or I just have to shut down or restart my computer in order to get to my home page.

Here are the following messages and I have no idea what they mean or what might be the problem:

- If you are connected but behind a firewall, check that Firefox has permission to access the Web. - We can’t connect to the server at www.google.com. - The connection timed out

PLEASE HELP! Also, I have no idea how I got to this point because it is nearly impossible to here.

I clicked on the link (the only thing provided with NO explanations). I did the reset and now all the websites I added that were below the address bar. I only had to click on a site and it would take me there. I am not referring to the bookmarks. WHERE DID THESE GO? You should have explained IN DETAIL EVERYTHING that would be lost. Some of those "buttons", not sure what they are called, can not be found since some of them had taken me a great deal of time to find them!!! Thanks a lot! Also, the new tab override no longer works but it is still in effect according to the settings.

Well, as the URL stated, there are saved and there are deleted items,

When something is given it is expected to be read so you have a clear understanding. The information is in a folder on your desktop saved.

Do not need new tab override https://www.howtogeek.com/333805/how-to-change-or-customize-firefoxs-new-tab-page/

I will contact someone else. You are rude. When someone is in need of help because they have tried all avenues to fix and/or understand a problem, they are usually frustrated at that point. If you are here to help, then maybe you can find a bit of understanding. I need a person that possesses that quality.

BTW, I already figured out the override. That is the least of my problems.

Still unable to connect to server even after the reset.

So assuming you would read something is being rude. That is a first. If feel like that then apologize. If you still have Bookmarks when you open them the Short Cuts that you had would be where they are suppose to be in the Bookmarks Toolbar Folder.

They have been in this folder for years. It has possibly created another empty one (I have about 20 of them from installs). Just find the other Bookmarks Toolbar Folder and drag them to the Browser UI (Interface) called Bookmarks Toolbar.

Or can drag from one Bookmarks Toolbar Folder to the very top Bookmarks Toolbar in the order you want them to appear (I think) I always drag back to the toolbar.

Very lovely and confusing

So need to find out if they are there or if they are in the folder on your desk top and have to be dragged out of the .json file.

So if you could explore and post back as to success with the toolbar or need help digging the bookmarks out. Thank You.

I already figured out all that on my own. All of that is irrelevant if I am unable to connect to the server. I'm lucky to even get this far.

Are you getting any error messages. If so what are they please.

Are you connecting in any special way ? VPN, Proxy ? You mention a server, what server is this please, yours, a companies, a uniy, please clarify the can not "connect to the server".

It is my home internet (assuming that's what you're asking). I don't think I'm connecting in any special way. I click on the Firefox icon and I'm on the internet. Well, not lately. I don't know what a VPN or Proxy is. The following are the messages I get.

- If you are connected but behind a firewall, check that Firefox has permission to access the Web. - We can’t connect to the server at www.google.com. - We’re having problems finding this site - The connection has timed out

I give up. I don't understand any of this stuff. The links and options are too overwhelming for me

My son recently installed Bitdefender. Could that be the problem?

Start Fresh in morning but I will make the comment that some websites when get that error if click left hand side of the address bar the icon there you can sometimes create rules to the site and to ignore the warning.

Ya it is a lot, some are just duplicates of others mixed with new stuff.

Can give this a go but do remember to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer and it is not a cure all , sometimes works other times not .

This is the best way to uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.1 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
