I am having issues where my Firefox will not even open at all.

The application crashes and shows an event in the event viewer as attached.

The event is:

Faulting application name: firefox.exe, version: 50.0.0.6152, time stamp: 0x581d78ba Faulting module name: HcApi.dll, version: 8.0.0.3753, time stamp: 0x570e61e2 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x0000cc18 Faulting process id: 0x1cc0 Faulting application start time: 0x01d24981a551e219 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\Gkp\HcApi.dll Report Id: 960b12ee-1934-47b5-8390-3745a2595c6f Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID:

Basically if I turn off my firewall in McAfee Security Centre, Firefox will open perfectly normal.

Not sure if this is an issue with McAfee or FireFox but I think it's still relevant.

I'm on Windows 10 with the Anniversary update and both McAfee and Firefox are fully up to date as well as Windows.

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see
