Is there any way to reduce the size/shape of the tabs?

To my mind, the tabs in Thunderbird are now very large and look awful. I suspect they are the same in Firefox too, now but I have reverted to an old version of FF for many reasons.

TBH, can anyone honestly say they think TB's tabs and menu bar look better than the old FF here?

So... is there any way to get back to the look I prefer. I cannot find any add-ons or themes for TB to achieve it.

I expect it's possible to create some kind of userChrome.css file to modify the tabs, but it may be easier to try a theme like this one:
