Turned my work computer on and firefox had an update for today. Updated and ever since then it will not start. It will only crash and send a report, and when you restart it crashes again. Tried to get to safemode, but it keeps crashing.

here are some crash reports

Chosen solution

You may need to reinstall Firefox 31 temporarily until someone figures out more about this particular crash signature.

To cleanly replace your Firefox 32 program files (without affecting your settings):

(1) This article has a link to get the installer: Install an older version of Firefox.

(2) Rename the folder (64-bit Windows folder names)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

to

C:\Program Files (x86)\OldFirefox

(3) Run the installer you downloaded in #1. It should automatically connect to your existing settings.

Does it start up and run correctly?

If so, one note: Some plugins may exist only in that OldFirefox folder. If something essential is missing, look in these folders:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\OldFirefox\Plugins
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\OldFirefox\browser\plugins

If not: We should look for an issue in your settings folder, or with external software/malware.

Sorry to hear about this, and for the delay in getting you some comments.

This crash signature seems to indicate a problem with the user interface. To start up in Safe Mode as a check on whether it's a native Firefox feature causing the issue, or one added by an extension, or a problem related to an advanced feature, could you try holding down the Shift key when you start Firefox?

A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

Will Firefox start?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, when I try to get into safemode, it directly goes into the mozilla crash report.

Sometimes Firefox becomes more sensitive to malware after an update. If you find some time to scan, please try the tools listed in our support article to supplement your regular security software: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware. These are all free and take time to run, so if the tool seems to finish completely and says you need to play to clean something, try the forums in the article for in-depth assistance.

If you end up cleaning any software (not just cookies), please make a note of what it was in case that turns out to be relevant to your problems running Firefox 32.

Did you try a clean reinstall of the Firefox 32 version and delete the Firefox program folder?
