v31.2 upgrade leaves application screen blank and menus non functional
version 24 was working on win 8.1 pro 64bit, on Intel x64. It became unresponsive. Very slow. Activating the "about" menu item started an upgrade check. I updated to 31.2 by allowing that wizard to continue and executing the downloaded exe. When Thunderbird is started the application screen frames are visible but blank. Selecting the option/AccountSettings/Account Actions/add mail account does nothing.

I have locally saved Windows8WindowFrameColor.jsm.js so that I can email it to you if asked.
I did have, but no longer do have, chrome installed. I can explain my reasoning if asked. I use firefox.
I will use gmail web access to [email protected] to look for your response but would certainly like to get this excellent program working as it did before. Please advise quick fix or more info you need to debug. Thank you John Domogalla 503-734-6667

Here is a follow up since I seem to be a beta validator. I reverted to version 24.6 and recovered my complete profile. With everything working but my calendar I downloaded lightning-2.6.5-sm+tb-windows.xpi which claims to work with Thunderbird 24.1.1 and later. When I added the plugin it downloaded the Mozilla manager which immediately and silently downloaded and installed Thunderbird version 31.2 then put up a restart button. I pushed it and found myself right back at the blank screen of version 31.2.
This is really annoying. Strongly suggest not installing the auto update manager. I have no problem switching to administrative mode when doing any type of installs.
On a progressive note perhaps a calendar feature could be integrated into the release repository for Thunderbird keeping compatible email-calendar versions aligned by the checkin qualification process.
Thank you for listening..just trying to help J:D
