When on a website, at the bottom of the screen it says: why do I get "looking up assets.adobetm.com. It takes a long time for the page to refresh.

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

That is a Firefox message box telling you what is loading onto the current window. As you watch it when it loads any page, you will see it change many, many times as the elements are downloaded.

If it hangs on looking up then this means that there is a problem with the DNS server that doesn't respond.

Try to disable IPv6 (check for other possible causes as well).

You can open the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer). You can check on the Network tab to see how long it takes to load content.

Reload the page via F5 or bypass the cache via Ctrl+F5 to generate the log.
