Hello everybody! I have a problem with one specific web page. In that page, I am unable to see the CAPTCHA image required to post comments. In the area where said image is supposed to show, I only see a writing that reads "CAPTCHA Image" (no, it's not a trick: the image is not "CAPTCHA Image", I already tried that! ;o)

If I click "Refresh Image", nothing happens.

Please note that this is the first time that I encounter such an issue: I used many other sites requiring CAPTCHA validation (even today) without any problem.

I saved the source code of the page and I'm trying to paste it here below for you to analyze, but for some reason the pasted text doesn't match the copied HTML code. While I try to understand how to paste the code, can you make any educate guess about the CAPTCHA not showing?...

If you right-click the non-loading image and call up View Image Info, do you see any indication that it is sourced from a site that might be blocked for some reason?

Also, the forum software detected your Firefox as version 18. Is that correct?

Version 18 is not secure; Mozilla discloses security flaws after each new release. Is something holding you back from upgrading to Firefox 44? Please let us know so we can suggest solutions or workarounds.

If Help > About Firefox shows Firefox 44.0.2, you may need to clear the preference that is misreporting your version number. See: How to reset the default user agent on Firefox.

Hello jscher2000, before going on, I wish to add that I even tried with Firefox Portable 41.0.2 (way more recent) but the results were IDENTICAL (no image showing). I also wish to add that I reported my problem to the webmaster of that site (with all the details), but he couldn't see any reason for the image not showing.

If i right-click on the CAPTCHA image area then select "Image info", there isn't any evidence of a blocked site. The image address is:

http://drknews.com/resources/ext/si-captcha-for-wordpress/captcha/securimage_show.php?si_sm_captcha=1&si_form_id=com&prefix=KLh0tl3NmP6Lcdly

File size reads (traslated from my language to English): "Unknown (not cached)"

Image size reads (traslated from my language to English): "0px x 0px (resized to 132px x 45px)"

When I click that link, I get an error page.

Does the CAPTCHA work in other browsers?

Tomorrow morning I would try from my computer at work (it has Explorer installed) and will let you know...

But I see that the page (http://drknews.com/resources/) has many comments posted, so I guess that the people who posted there didn't get the same problem...

Okay, URL is useful. I get 404 errors in both Firefox and Chrome for the CAPTCHA plugin files. (Screen shots attached.) Site is broken.

Okay, now it's definitely bedtime for me :o) but before going to sleep, I will send your info to the webmaster... ;o)

The src link(s) seem to be missing a leading "/" (ext -> /ext).

You can try this code in the Web Console ("3-bar" menu button or Tools > Web Developer) or as a bookmarklet.

javascript:(function(){elm=document.querySelectorAll("[src^=\"ext\"]");
for(i=0;elm[i];i++){elm[i].setAttribute("src",elm[i].getAttribute("src").replace(/^(.)/,"/$1"));}})()
