I cannot get past the "enter the words from the image" anti-robot screening feature
I'm trying to set up syncing in FF4. Problem is that during the setup it tries to screen me to be sure I am "not a robot" by presenting a Captcha-like page. Since version 2, I have NEVER been able to see the Captcha image in Firefox; every time I run into this, I have to use IE or simply not get past the screening. This, of course, means that I cannot set up syncing in Firefox. I need to know generally how to cure this problem with Firefox, and specifically in this instance in order to set up syncing. Either this is a Captcha specific problem, or if Firefox is not using Captcha, it is a general problem with the image box (which always appears blank).
TIA

Make sure that you send the referrer and that you do not block cookies from that server.
Also make sure that your security software isn't blocking those images.
Thanks, but didn't help at all. I do not have any difficulty receiving any other images of any kind in any format OTHER than the Captcha (and similar) images. Those are the ONLY images that do not display in FF. Nevertheless, I reset all of these settings and restarted FF; I also went to Zonealarm, my only security software, and manually reset every possible program reference to Firefox to "Allow", and it still does not display. As I indicated, this has been an ongoing problem since FF v.2.x. I've even tried mousing over the blank box, thinking that the characters were displaying, but white on white; that didn't work either. This is getting to be sufficiently impeding in my business due to everyone using this form of robo-screening that I am seriously considering moving to Chrome.
This is probably the single most frustrating problem I have ever had with PCs, and I go back to the days of the Trash-80 in the late 70s.
But thanks anyway.

You can try "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" on the Safe mode start window.
Firefox doesn't block images by default, so it is either a configuration change made by you or an extension or your security software (ZA) is blocking it.
Have you been using ZA all the time that you have that problem?
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See:
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)
