I have firefox 17.0 I downloaded smime.p7m add--on but I still can't read encrypted gmail.

I have received an encrypted email with smime.p7m which contains a pdf attachment (as the sender says). I have downloaded and installed adequate add-on for firefox but still I can't open it. What can I do to read my gmail message? Thank you
