thunderbird keeps telling me probably wrong configuration, user name or password
I entered an existing email account but thunderbird keeps telling me probably wrong configuration, user name or password. I entered the EXACT same configuration and password in my android cell phone and it works perfectly

Some email providers require separate passwords for each device.
I have 7 other gmail email addresses on the same computers thunderbird and on my android phone and they all work perfectly

I only meant that Gmail tends to prefer separate passwords for each account on a PC email client. I would remove the password and try again.
I have completely removed the account 3 times and each time I reinstall it I get the exact same result yet when I installed that account on my android cell phone email client with the exact same settings it works perfectly
Just a suggestion: remove the password from the account on PC. That may require going to settings>privacy&Security, selecting 'saved passwords', and then right-clicking the two rows for the account and deleting them. Then attempt to log into account to see how Gmail responds.
I didn't explain this correctly. I can't actually get past the account setup tab. When I enter my name, email address and password and hit the "done" button it starts "working" and then comes up with that message "probably wrong configuration, user name or password" I think early on I tried manual configuration and changed to pop3 once and another time changed to "normal password" from 0auth2 and got the account to appear in the acounts list but it wouldn't send or recieve. I've compared all of the settings to the settings in the other gmail accounts I have in thunderbird and other than the user name and password they are identical and THEY all work fine

perhaps try the gotchas listed here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/automatic-conversion-google-mail-accounts-oauth20
In addition to Matt's link (which I've copied for my own future use as well), I have found some success in OMITTING the password when setting up accounts, entering the password only after Thunderbird says that the setup was successful.
Well I'm actually not sure how but I finally got it to work!!!!!!!!! A BIG THANK YOU to all who helped
