Believe I'm receiving a BOGUS SECURITY ALERT
Entire screen taken over by what I think is a Bogus security alert. Claims to be Apple Platform Security - *** ACCESS TO THIS PC HAS BEEN BLOCKED*** ... it has been infected with a Trojan Spyware This is followed by phone numbers to "contact Mac Support - 1-833-798-2936— (plus another number)" I have contacted Apple and APPLE SAYS: they would never send such a notice. IMPORTANT: This only occurs on FIREFOX. It won't go away when I shut down or even if I erase and reload Firefox app. NOTE: It does NOT happen with Safari.

Hi
Yes - that does sound like a bogus security alert. I strongly recommend that you do not call that telephone number or click on any links in that message.
That opinion does not solve the problem! The only way I can get rid of the bogus images filling my screen is to throw the Firefox app into the trash. If I download and reload the Firefox, the bogus images come back immediately and I don’t even have a top menu or a dock to do anything about it.
I am now forced into using Safari (which, of course is what Apple WANTS me to do so they’re no help) and I have no bookmarks on there.
What do you advise - so I can get along with my work and get rid of these bogus graphics? Or shall I just dump Firefox and switch to Safari?
As a first step, clearing your browsing history will help. You may find this useful:
