Can't Connect To ATT Server
Thunderbird worked fine with my Yahoo account from ATT (Bellsouth) until recently. Over the past several weeks, I've been unable to send or receive e-mails. When I try, I get this message:
"Sending of password for user [___] did not succeed. Mail server inbound.att.net responded: Server error -- please try again later."
I have no problem with my other e-mail accounts.
Can you walk me through the cure?

for the last several years both ATT and YAhoo have been promoting this https://www.att.com/support/article/email-support/KM1240308/
Recently they made it a requirement for ATT customers to use the mailkey. I suggest you go through the process so you can get you mail.
OK, need to continue this question a bit. As of 4/13/2021 I can no longer send/receive emails w/ Thunderbird. Tried the secure key thing ect. No luck so far. Usual "................server error please try again"
I've had sporadic issues w/ this over the course of a year now but even using my normal old style password usually fixed itself.
One time to fix it I needed to just change my password at ATT mail though finding the correct place to do it is a nightmare(old style not the "key" type)
Yahoo and mobile yahoo has no issues w/ the "old style" password. Thunderbird has no issues accessing sub-email accts using the old passwords but can't send since it requires the main acct is functioning.
Very annoying problem. I've has ATT in past and present iterations and, frankly their web is really screwed up. Just a personal rant.
Anyways just wondering if my current problem is "fatal" in TB.
Like I mentioned I've had this issue before and an odd solution believe it or not, was to logon into Yahoo mail on my browser. For some reason that created a "link" to TB which would then function normally. Again w/out the "key" password just the old password. That was always weird.
I've had this email acct (and TB) for literally decades and don't want to lose it.
Pretty sure this is all ATT's fault but maybe someone has the same situation .

It was ATT.... and yes eventually needed to use the new security key generated at ATT. Wasn't the only issue. My 12 yr old email address became "unverified" odd.
The main problem was my security key disappeared after verifying address and a few other changes. Redid the key and used it.. Everything worked again.
Tech support was leaning to erasing acct in Thunderbird and re-entering. that wasn't going to happen and it turned out not to be necessary.
Also note that according to support there is a known issue in setting up att email in "win 10 mail". Not a story for here though.
