Hello - I have read all similar enquiries about configuring any new tab opened to show the home page choice (for me it is the main Google home page): the answers provided are way over my head technologically but I also remember it being a fairly simple process in the past.

None of the TABS configuration choices under OPTIONS offers a means to make this happen: what has changed? Is there a non-code work-around? I haven't found it!

Many thanks as always - DMK/Minnesota

Hi, for security reasons, you need to use an extension to make changes to the New Tab page.

If you only want the New Tab to be the same as your home page, you can use the add-on New Tab Homepage

To set any page as your New Tab you can try New Tab Override (browser.newtab.url replacement). Once installed, open the 3-bar menu > Add-ons > Extensions, then look for New Tab Override and click on Options to set your preference.

You may need to restart Firefox for any changes to take effect.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you!

Hello and wow! Thank you!

'New Tab Homepage' downloaded immediately from the link you kindly supplied, worked the first trial attempt, and required no re-booting.

PERFECTION!

So something for all of us to think on: I learned that my ability to make what was at one time a quick and simple choice to be...eliminated. When? Why?

And how did I not know of the latest tweaks and adjustments to the ever-shape-changing format of our beloved Mozilla Firefox?

We stay with these Mozilla products for a range of reasons, and are something of an exclusive club, and we like that! But there must be some form of global Mozilla newsletter that can be sent out weekly that lists in simplest form the many changes and updates du jour.

Mozilla Team Designers, are you listening? I got lucky today! But...hours spent agonizing over what was easy six months ago somehow could not be accomplished...well, that's not right.

Create a simple central e-newsletter template, have all software design teams inside Mozilla drop in their latest twists and alterations to what we use every day, invite us to sign up, and hit SEND every Friday at 5pm PST.

Smart. Simple. Supportive to the Mozilla cause.

There is a newsletter that gives some fairly general info https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/newsletter/

There is also the Release Notes https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/releases/

Looking at the latest version Release Notes in the SUMO contributor forum will often give more background details of what to expect - but note that this forum is only for contributors to post in - those that answer users' questions. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/forums/contributors

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers. If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. Your feedback gets collected by a team of people who read it and gather data about the most common issues.
