Hi   !
I'm guessing that Google Translate Help isn't very helpful   (?)
Would you consider this add-on:

What I read there was:
Hint   !
Press   "Ctrl"  +   "' Translate full page"   for translate full page via Google website.

Just to clarify, could you describe the steps are you taking to submit the current page's URL to Google Translate. Is this something you are manually copy/pasting into the main Google Translate page, or is it a feature added by the "Google™ Translator" extension that appears in your list of extensions (next to your question: Question Details > More System Details)?

If there is a problem with the Google Translate page, have you tried "the usual":

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Clear Firefox's Cache

See: How to clear the Firefox cache

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes. If you do not see the number going down on the page, you can reload it using Ctrl+r to check progress.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • click the padlock or "i" icon in the address bar, then the ">" button, then More Information, and finally the "View Cookies" button

In the dialog that opens, the current site should be pre-filled in the search box at the top of the dialog so you can remove that site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

There used to be an option to "translate page" when I selected the Translate icon on the menu bar. It is gone. The only way to translate a page is to past it into the Translate text box. This doesn't work. It translates just the url. It's hard to pick out the text because it is imbedded with links, images, etc.

The case gets cleared daily... just before I tried this.

Hi robmm76, it definitely sounds like your current translation add-on is broken. You might consider disabling it and trying the one recommended here to see whether it works better:

There is one Google and Google has one service called Google Translate.

But there are numerous different Firefox Add-ons that can send pages or text to Google Translate. Those are all independently created: Google does not have an official connector between Firefox and Google Translate.

Currently, you have an extension called "Google™ Translator" (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/ad.../google-translator/). If you want to disable that one and try a different one, you can start on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then find that add-on on the right side and click its Disable button. Some extensions disable immediately, while in other cases it takes effect after the next time you exit Firefox and start it up again. (Firefox will notify you right there on the Add-ons page if that's necessary.)

Once the old one is disabled, you can install a new one such as the one suggested by Happy112: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1145608#answer-932700
