I had a my.yahoo.com home page which I customized. I want the new one to be my home page but they both have the same address: my.yahoo.com and the old one always comes up as my home page, requiring that I login to get to my new one.. How do I get ride of the old one completely or have the new one come up every time, losing the old one but keeping the new one without losing my new one?

Those two pages must have a different URL or they must load additional data from the server via and XHR request and in such a case there is not much that you can do about this.

If it only works when you have logged in to the site then make sure that you have an allow cookie exception and keep those cookies.

A detail like a website remembering you (log you in automatically) is stored in a cookie.

You can use these steps to make a website recognize and remember you:

  • Create a cookie 'allow' exception to keep such cookies, especially in case of secure websites and when cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
  • Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Exceptions

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history.

  • do not clear the Cookies
  • do not clear the Site Preferences
  • Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.
  • Clearing Cookies will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you want to keep.
