Importing calendar from non-.ics file
Is there any way to import a calendar that's not in .ics format? Besides the formats they're written in, I can save my calendars in .csv and .html format.

Hi, I want to copy my Thunderbird profile in windows 10 from old computer to a new one, whan I go in Roamng>Thinderbird>Profiles> it shows total size 32 GB. I tried deleting in the Thunderbird application some emails but total size in prifeles reduced only by 1 Gb, I gues that some very old emails even before 2012 are stored somwhare in Profles but I can not locate. Whan I go to Inbox.sbd it shows 8,5 GB but whan I enter in the applicatin shows much less size?

I have a large amount of email stored on an IMAP server. Would like to reduce that by moving most or all of it to a local disk drive. Am looking for a (hopefully simple) guide to doing the transfer. I don't see a Local Folders entry in the left-hand pane; not sure if that matters. (Presently running TB 115.10.1 64-bit on Windows 10 and 11.)

I was sorry to see that the 128 Nebula release did not fix the longstanding problem that Thunderbird is very slow to load in Sonoma, and has been since the Sonoma release. This is with 128.0.1esr (64-bit) on an Apple M1 Mac Mini with Sonoma 14.6. I have the same problem on a 2018 Mac Book Pro running Sonoma with an Intel chip. The problem is NOT manifest on a 2013 Mac Book Pro running the last release of Big Sur. In all 3 cases the same email accounts are loaded, so it is some interaction with the OS. (I previously reported this for Tbird 115 under Sonoma, with no resolution.)
Specifically, when I start Tbird 128 on the Sonoma M1 the window comes up in about 2 seconds but contents are blank. The contents don't fill until about 30 seconds. This makes it painful to quickly hop into email to do something, so I am resorting to Apple Mail when in a hurry. If I do the same on my 2013 Big Sur machine, it's 2 seconds for the window to come up and 8 seconds for the content to fill. Upgrading from 115 to 128 did not change this on any of the machines.
None of the enhancements of recent releases are of sufficient value to compensate for this, so I wish the team would focus on ensuring speed on all platforms. Is there any clue what is going on?

Hi, I don't know what I did but suddenly I only have the chat screen (which I have never been in, screenshot attached) and can't get back to my normal Thunderbird window where I see all my emails. All functions in the drop-down menus don't work, I can't get into settings or anything. What do I need to do to get back to my emails?

Quick Filter is still extremely slow on the newest version of Thunderbird (128.1.1esr). I asked a question about this previously. It was reported as a bug (see links below) and it says in the report it was fixed, but the problem still seems to be there in the newest version. Any idea when this will be fixed, or if there is anything I can do about it?
There is a thread about it on reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/Thunderbird/comments/1e6hryp/quick_filter_is_super_slow_in_128/
There was a bug reported, and it is listed as closed (solved). Here is the bug report thread: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1908761
Thanks for you help.

iPhone 14 Pro with current iOS 18.2 using Mail for emails. Have lost all of the emails in an entire file, with many subfolders and emails. used to be there, now not... Other files and folders populated.
have removed and reinstalled Gmail account twice and still cannot get the problem file or subfolders to work. other files and folders do populate but I need to access each of them individually to initially view the emails in them
Gmail accessed via Thunderbird 128.5.2esr (32-biot) on my desktop pc (win 10) AND Mail on another iPhone (10). They both still have all of the files and folders on them, INCLUDING the problem one.
I sent a trial email to the account, it shows in inbox on the problem phone. Tried to transfer it to one of the folders in the problem file and it does not transfer. On my pc and the other iPhone, it does.
attached 2 pics: first of files and folders, second same but with expanded file view Help?! Thanks.

Hello,
I habe been using Thunderbird for many years and I always considered it was a wonderfull software. But it seems that since Thunderbird revisions 128 replaced revisions 115 XXX, this software became less performant and less reliable than before: very (too) often it takes a big time just to open a received e-mail, it is longer and longer to send a new e-mail, even without attached file. Sometimes the software seems locked: nearly all commands are unavailable, in a "grey" state: "the program does not respond ..."
Somtimes, when you run Thunderbitd you see a huge disc activity, as if the software was re-indexing the databases after each launch.
Even if you re-install the software, from scratch, and you re-index all the files the behaviour does not improve.
Theses problems have begun since revision 115 XX was upgraded to 128. We have been told that Thunderbird sofware had been widely "redesigned" but as a result, right now, it is less good than before.
Looking on forums I see that I am not the only one to signal these problems ...
Can you give us some more informations about what is going on with Thunderbird ? It is going to be "stabilized" ? Does this last major evolution of Thunderbird is going to arrive to a more stable state ?
Thank you by advance.
Regards

I just switched from Blue Mail to Thunderbird on Android.
First s big thanks for finally making Thunderbird on desktop touch friendly, this was long overdue.
Now to my feature request for thunderbird Android. Please allow (or just enable my default) that the controls to search in mails/delete mails etc are moved to the bottom of the screen so you can easily reach them on as mobile phone (just like blue Mail does it).
Second smaller request: please make the email list less "crowded" somehow the fonts and density are hard to read. Again have a look at blue Mail for how to do this a bit better. Could also be an option.

Hello Team, About a month ago Thunderbird stopped downloading new messages, on my desktop pc. I have a Cox email account, and about a year ago they switched to using Yahoo. It's been working fine until last month. When I open TB, the inbox count of unread messages keeps climbing, but it's not adding new emails. I think it's actually adding duplicates of already downloaded emails. Some of which it looks like it is adding several copies, like 3 or 4. Can you tell me where to start? Many thanks.

I've been using Thunderbird for many years, and its up to date. I've had more and more problems with choppy response times lately. It "freezes" for short periods where the interface stops responding for half a minute, or a minute or so before I can do anything. It always comes back (never crashes, shuts down). Today was some of the worst where it was minutes before I could start using it.
My junk and trash folders are empty, and I've done a compression and run the cleanup operation on a bunch of folders. My Inbox is empty. I only have 2 pop accounts. Its not when its retrieving or sending email though.

I have used thunderbird for many years and have installed various versions on many different windows machines. I just got a new PC running windows 11 and installed the current version of thunderbird. The local folders show up but with no content (no subfolders and no messages found). My local folder (about 45 Gb) is located on a dropbox drive so that I can read and save emails on different machines.
I wonder whether it is related to this version? I have installed thunderbird on a different machine about one year ago and it worked fine (thunderbird is currently running this way on 2 other window machines and they are all OK). If this is the case, is there a way I can find and install an earlier version of thunderbird?
Thanks for your help.

Every time I run Thunderbird, it appears to lose its IMAP connection(s) after 10-15 minutes. I've tried varying the number of cached connections from 1 to 10 with no difference in behavior.
Restarting Thunderbird will restore connectivity temporarily, until the entire process starts over again.
It seems to be correlated to saving a copy of sent messages. The sending process times out while the message is being saved to the Sent folder after the SMTP sending is complete.
Once this happens, new mail doesn't appear, moving mail between folders has no effect, and some (but not all) messages can't be retrieved from the server.
I am unable to add or delete a subfolder in Thunderbird. I can perform those functions from my webmail server. Any ideas on what might be wrong?

My provider uses IMAP, not POP3. I am transitioning to a new computer. My entire work and personal emails over the last 10 years are on this computer. A loss of emails would be really, really bad for my work. I use my Thunderbird account on two devices: a main laptop and a small travel laptop. It's nice to have them synched, but not essential due to limited use of my travel laptop.
Currently all of my old emails are in IMAP folders on the new computer. My questions:
(1) Which is better protected from loss of emails, IMAP folders or local folders? On the one hand, I occasionally destroy a computer by doing something dumb like spilling water on it. But does it ever happen that a provider permanently loses emails, like a major server crash?
(2) To what extent is loss of privacy an issue with IMAP storage folders? Is there any history of privacy incidents with IMAP folders?
(3) If I move emails from IMAP to local folders and then delete the IMAP folders, will my emails be permanently saved in the local folders? I did an experiment and the answer seems to be yes.
(4) Considering the above questions, is it best to store emails in IMAP or local folders? Is there any significant difference?
