For the past 3 days, firefox will not work for any websites and displays "unable to connect"; however, internet explorer is working for all websites.
We contacted comcast to see if it was an issue with the internet. We reset our modem and router several times and comcast said that we are showing good signal strength. They think that since internet explorer is still working, that it is most likely a browser issue with firefox.

This type of problem is normally caused by a firewall blocking Firefox. For details on how to resolve this see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+cannot+load+websites+but+other+programs+can
