How to use stored passwords without asking for more?
I have only a couple sites for which I want Firefox to hold the passwords and auto-fill when I visit. However, I do not want to be asked about storing any OTHER passwords. If I turn off the option to ask about storing passwords, it also turns off the ability to use the already stored ones.
Is there a middle ground where Firefox will use what it has, but not ask to add more?
Alternatively, is there a way to use a wild-card to cover most/all sites in the "exceptions" list of sites Firefox won't ask to store passwords? E.G. if I could tell FF to not ask for https://*.com that would give me a decent workaround.
Thanks.

There should be a option turn it from asking such site did you look into that on the option? There is no wildcard that I know of to do what your asking and doing something like that would be a breach of security for your accounts.
I don't want to be asked to store any new passwords, but if I turn that off in the settings, I also can't use the already stored passwords.
The option doesn't say don't use stored passwords. It says "Ask to save logins and passwords for websites". Saving and using are two separate actions.
How could specifying a large range of sites for which I DON'T want to be asked about saving the password possibly be a breach of security??

The "trick" is to select Never Remember Password for This Site for the websites where you don't want login information saved. Firefox does keep track of which pages that you set to "Never Remember Password for This Site", and then site-by-site will stop asking you when you return to that website.
Sorry, wildcards aren't part of the "not saving scheme". You may call that a breach, but the developers have offered the option to "Never Remember Password for This Site" and to have Firefox remember that user action. But it's more of a "decreasing as time goes on" inconvenience that a real breach. Plus you can use the Master Password to restrict the availability of the Logins Manager from being active when Firefox is open and you aren't sitting at the keyboard.
The only way to use saved passwords and prevent Firefox from asking to store new passwords is in using Private Browsing mode. In PB mode you can't store new passwords, but Firefox can use the Password Manager to fill new passwords. There are some disadvantages of using PB mode.
