Jan 7, 2015 in the evening I received a popup asking me to upgrade to the latest version 35.0, I am running 34.0.5. I was busy so I clicked "ask later" which never happened. Today Jan 8, same year I looked and tried to upgrade manually, no options so I went to the Mozilla site and it told me I was running the latest version. So is this a concern since I was not and do not use drugs?

The simple answer is that update snippets were uploaded to server early by mistake and some got a failed update to Firefox 35.0 beta.
So no spyware or fake update popups as some above claim may be the case.
