If you compare the address of the page that won't load in Firefox with a browser that will load the page, can you see any difference?

Some general advice:

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • click the padlock or globe icon in the address bar > More Information > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Make sure "third party" cookies are allowed: Websites say cookies are blocked - Unblock them

Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement?

Are you seeing a bar slide down between the toolbar area and the page briefly? That usually would be either a pop-up block or a redirect block message. You can turn off those features on the Options page to see whether that helps. Let's start with the redirect block:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the General mini-tab, in the Accessibility section, uncheck the box for "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page"

Then try your site again. Does that fix it?

If not, try turning off the pop-up blocker:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Content

Uncheck the box for "Block pop-up windows"

Then try your site again. Does that fix it?

If not, perhaps you can use a camera or camera phone to make a video of what's happening so you can pause it and read it at a little more leisurely pace.

Thank you. Unfortunately it did not solve the problem. My redirect block was unchecked and I turned off the pop-up blocker. I was able to complete the specific course I mentioned but in other courses I get a large window that says Server not found; make sure fire fox is permitted access to the web. It has that because I am on other sites.

Thank you very much for your fast responses and help. I tried the site in Microsoft explorer and got the exact same result. I was able to complete the courses I needed by passing the required test without reviewing the course material that I could not view, so I am no longer interested in continuing to fix the problem that I had.
