FIrefox won't download files
I am trying to download files typically documents. When i click the link to download, right click and select download a small pop appears in the lower left corner saying scanning for viruses and then it shows an address in the lower left corner then either a blank tab opens or the page will refresh with nothing being downloaded. I've tried all the methods mentioned in your help menu/website and nothing works. I can download the files fine in chrome. I've also scanned for malware and nothing. Any help would be great so i don't have to switch to chrome.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
It is possible that security software (anti-virus, firewall) is causing the problem. Try to disable security software temporarily to see if that makes a difference.
I've disabled security software already and that has not helped.
Here is the screen shot.
If the download gets that far that it has been finished by Firefox and Firefox has passed the file over to your AV software then this is either your AV software that has removed the file or the file is still stuck in the temp folder because Firefox wasn't able to move the file to the specified destination folder.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen or hold down the Shift key) to see if that has effect.
cor-el This does not solve my problem. I don't think the download starts at all. The download manager shows nothing has started, failed, finished etc. It just reloads the page. Its not just that website. I've tried other websites. Again it works on chrome and IE but not firefox. My AV program is just the general windows AV program.
Please provide public (no password) link(s) that we can check out. No Personal Information Please !

and then any google drive files i'd like to download. Again if i use chrome or IE they all work.
I had no problem downloading a PDF. 5 seconds.
Let’s do a full clean re-install; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}
Save the file. Then Close Firefox.
Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.
Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86)
Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac
Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux
If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Do Not remove the profiles folder.
Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox program folders by adding .old to them. Do not rename the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.
After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.

What security software do you have?
Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.
Cor-el I've started in safe mode and it had no effect on the problem. I've also disabled my security program and have had no luck.
FredMcD I've already tried a clean install as well as refreshing firefox with no luck fixing the problem.
I have tried every step of this link https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cant-download-or-save-files with no luck. That is why I posted to this community.
Thanks for the continued assistance.
