When replying to an email, the entered/typed response is line-wrapped at distance that is much shorter than the original email. This did not occur prior to the installation of Enigmail.

Can't find a setting which would affect this. Viewing message as Original HTML

Using Thunderbird 24.3.0. Lightning also installed much before Enigmail with no problems.

It is my understanding that when using encryption software the format changes to plain text. There is not much formatting in plain text.

You can go to the config editor and enter wrap in the search box and see if any of those settings help with your word wrap issue.

Based on Airmail's suggestion about encryption s/w using text format, I uninstalled Enigmail to see if that would revert the format back to HTML. Unfortunately it did not and reply messages still line wrapped. Sfhowes's link to an article on setting Advanced editor options for line wrap led me to look for an option for the message format itself. I found a parameter ".compose_html" which was still set to false. I toggled it to true and now formatting works as it did before Enigmail. Not clear on why encryption would necessarily require text, maybe a characteristic of Enigmail, but thanks for all the help!
