On websites, I usually click on links while holding down ctrl to open the page in a new tab. Recently, whenever i touch the ctrl button, it zooms in dramatically fast. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and that did not help.

This could be a problem with a malfunctioning middle mouse (scroll wheel) button. You could try another or check the mouse driver in the control panel.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Try to set the mousewheel.withcontrol.action pref (on Mac mousewheel.with_meta.action) to 1 on the about:config page to avoid zooming if the Ctrl/Command key is pressed.
