Do you have the VLC player installed?

The problem is with VLC: Firefox cannot find the required plug-in as a bug in the VLC update prevents its installation, see: http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/5610 Could the Firefox team put a request to VLC?

VLC.org The VLC plugin does not work on Firefox (Firefox 8) on Mac OS X. It is reproducible on any Mac OS X computer with newest Firefox. Editing the plugin's Info.plist corrects the bug. The XML, that needs to be added to Info.plist, looks like this: <key>WebPluginMIMETypes</key>

      <dict>
              <key>application/x-vlc-plugin</key>
              <dict>
                      <key>WebPluginExtensions</key>
                      <array>
                              <string>mp4</string>
                      </array>
                      <key>WebPluginTypeDescription</key>
                      <string>VLC plugin</string>
              </dict>
      </dict>
      <key>WebPluginName</key>
      <string>VLC plugin</string>

With this added info to the .plist, the plugin works flawlessly. (It is needed to remove the plugin, restart firefox, add plugin, restart firefox.)

I think this has to do with the VLC Plug-in 1.0.5-Intel: -When trying to open http://www.youweb.tv/fr/television/entertainment/tf1 (the official site is denying access as i am not in France) i am advised that the apparent absence of the VLC plugin causes the browser not to open this url; the vlc-plugin-1.0.5-intel is installed but is absent in Firefox>Tools>Add-ons>Plugins. -When selecting in Firefox>Tools>Add-ons>Plugins>Install Add-on from file>HD>Library>Internet Plug-Ins>VLC Plugin.plugin> a popup advises: "This add-on could not be installed because it appears to be corrupt", (with or without Info.plist modified as per http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/5610 ). -It seems to me that this is a VLC plug-in, as is "clear" from the ticket mentioned above, but from vlan>forum no reaction/solution sofar; -Did you get any further?
