I, stupidly, installed the latest Windows update and, of course, ran into problems. I elected to restore Windows to the last build. Now I have lost (at least) my Thunderbird Contacts and all Saved Mail folders. Thunderbird was up-to-date prior to the attempted Windows update. Can you folks help me restore the saved mail and my contacts? Thanks, Michael

Windows OS may have created a a 'windows.old' folder and put it on the desktop. Do you see a 'windows.old' folder? Have you recently created a backup of your Thunderbird profile folder name and stored it on an external drive?

Toad-Hall,

Thanks for your response. Much appreciated!

Woke up this morning and my computer was already on. Don't know why or how it was activated.

Checked Thunderbird and it was restored to pre-Windows update condition . . . no problems.

I am at a loss to explain this as I restarted several times during troubleshooting the Windows problem.

I am also at a loss as to who, or what, woke up my computer and righted the problem. Maybe the computer fairy paid a visit.

Thanks again, Michael
