I am trying to add an exclusion folder to Windows Defender, and it cannot seem to 'see' the directories beyond Users/(Username). Any suggestions?

I have found that Windows Defender, for better or worse, does not play well with Thunder 64.3 and later and often causing freezing and glitches while using Thunderbird. I then found that users can add exclusion folders to Windows Defender, but when trying to explore the directories to get to my profile, Windows Defender cannot see the relevant directories once I get to C/Users/<Username> - I'm not sure how to add the directory in an attempt to isolate the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The AppData folder is hidden by default. Open File Explorer, click Options on the View tab, then select 'Show hidden files, folders and drives' as in the attached picture.
