Did you guys really fire the inventor of Javascript?
Many people have been telling me to delete you guys from my computer. Quite frankly, I like your product. But I don't like the idea of censorship. If you really fired your CEO for his personal views from some non violent peaceful expression of them, well, that would be pretty lame. However, you can't trust the media these days, so I thought I would ask you directly.
Thanks much.

Unfortunately many have assumed he must have been fired or forced out due to his decision to leave instead of going back to CTO or another role at least in meantime.

hello tpowala, thanks for taking the time to inquire about the issue. unfortunately you're right in your assumption that some media outlets will rather publish sensationalized stories generating an increased revenue stream than perform the most basic fact-checking.

brendan was not fired or pressured to leave by mozilla! he has made the personal decision to resign among all this ongoing frenzy, threats and mischaracterization of him as a person and the mozilla community coming from third-parties, in order for the constant bombardment to end and to avert any further damage to mozilla and its mission that he helped build for so many years.
so in this sad process we have lost a co-founder of mozilla and brilliant technical mind - mozilla has not deserved to be in the middle of all of this. our community exists to protect the web by promoting openness, innovation and opportunity and is no battleground to fight culture-wars upon.
Well said. Thank you.
thank you too for not rushing to judgement, as we have seen it so often during the past 2 weeks from all sides! i hope you can still enjoy your firefox for many years to come ;-)
