Please download Java 7 update 13 (which came out last week) and install it (make sure Firefox is closed).

Inside there is a java applet produced back in 2005 using Geogebra (I think), and tis one will neve show. And it takes a lot of time to try to load it.

Which settings can I change so that I can decide if Firefox is going to run Java or not?

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

I took some effort to get this applet working.

I first got an error message in the applet area and clicked that message and choose to ignore it in the pop-up.
Then I confirmed the following Run window to accept to run this applet, but that still didn't made the applet work, A right-click or the applet area and choosing "reload applet" made it finally appear for me.

Been there done that. Actually I have even install a fresh Firefox on virgin win8 64-bit laptop (without synchronising to my firefox in general) with the absolutely latest Java - didn't help either. And my test page is not the only one, but as I did this myself I know exactly the contents.

Since then my Firefox is in sync... well more or less as it seems it only sync some ways but that is another matter... but at least most of my stuff is back in place.

What I know is that the egg.html takes forever to load, and that the java part never shows. I think that this goes for most Java places, but I do remember that it was not always the case. Right now even the Oracle test page can't find Java, and I know it could at some point. Reinstalling tells me I already got Java, so it is there, likewise it is active in the plugin window. But some parameter some where must have gone haywire.

Also my school uses Firefox 18 and Java, but it is on defualts and works fine, this is what we use for our year end tests.

Did you try the steps that I posted above to see if they work for you?

I don't get any error messages, so it is impossible to try to click in an error message ( "I first got an error message in the applet area and clicked that message and choose to ignore it in the pop-up.")

All I get is a white blank area - like the java plugin is not loading.

Did you try to reload the page (F5)?

Yep makes no difference.

Actually when loading pages like this the browser is doing a lot of work. It takes a long time to actually load the page and in the end the java area never shows up (or at least not before I loose patience - which in some cases have been several days). But still I get nothing but blank space in the Java area.

I have checked with browser spy. I do have java, I do have the latest version but when browser spy is testing for object and applet tag nothing more happens so something is blocking for this. The big questions is what it is and how to remove this.
