why is it I cannot stop my mouse pointer from blinking and hiding while using Firefox 9.01
I have been using Firefox for almost two decades and now this is so annoying I,m wasting time when maybe I should be learning to use another browser like Opera,

You may have switched on caret browsing.
You can press press F7 (on Mac: fn + F7) to toggle caret browsing on/off.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
