Repeated "unresponsive script" message
Every time I start up Firefox, I get this "unresponsive script" message even before the browser opens (in fact, I need to respond to it before the browser will open). It happens several times during my use of the browser, preceeded by a few moments of unreponsiveness to whatever website I'm on, and then again I need to respond to the message before I may continue.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Another possible cause can be clearing cookies via Clear Recent History.

Thanks for your responses. I think it worked. I managed to find another reference that closely matched my own situation, and the response to that suggested it was an AVG add-on, so I followed the instructions in that post

Thanks again. Really glad I didn't have to roll back to an earlier version or start using a different browser!
Oh, except that I don't know anything about re-enabling add-ons. That post talks about "my most critical add-ons", and I didn't even know that AVG was considered an add-on (although according to that post, the add-on part isn't "critical"). So how do I know what is "critical"? Again, running Windows 7 Starter on a netbook, with AVG and Malware Bytes as my (free) anti-virus protection.
-> At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button and then click Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
-> In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions panel
- Click the name of an extension in the list to select it
- Click Enable to enable the selected extension
- Click Restart Firefox
Check and tell if its working.
Okay...thanks, but not quite what I was asking. I'll try to be a little more clear. *What* do I re-enable? What is considered "critical"? Can I just stick with keeping all add-ons disabled?
Enable the add-ons that you require, depending on your needs. If they are Disabled, they will not cause any problems or malfunctionings in Firefox. You probably installed them to acquire some additional functionality with Firefox. So its your choice.
