How do I un-highlight text on the page that opens after I click on a search results link?
Repro steps: 1) Go to www.google.com 2) Search using the phrase "friendly house portland" 3) On the search results page, click on the 1st listed link "Friendly House, Inc." 4) On the page that opens up (www.friendlyhouseinc.org), all phrases "Friendly" are highlighted in yellow, "House" are in orange, and "Portland" are in green. 5) Problem: I don't want the phrases to be highlighted. How do I remove the highlighting?

Google seems to been adding some code and a stylesheet to pages before sending pages from the results to the browser.
If you click the Hide links in the Google Search Results section to remove that section and reload the page with F5 then the highlight is gone.
It is a feature of the site, it is using css to color the search terms. You can stop it happening by stopping Firefox from sending the referer header (tells the site where you came from to go to the site). To do that:
- Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
- Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
- Locate the preference network.http.sendRefererHeader and double-click on it to change its value to 0 (zero)
For more details on that preference see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Network.http.sendRefererHeader
The downside of this is that this may adversely affect some sites, since this can be used to track your movements through a site and possibly provide additional features.
