Does Firefox keep temporary Internet files that must be deleted manually from time to time, much like with Internet Explorer for Windows?

The number of Temporary Internet Files grows and grows in Internet Explorer for Windows. It is a good housekeeping practice to delete those files periodically. There is a Tools:Internet Options selection in Internet Explorer that allows the user to delete these Temporary Internet Files, and a separate control to delete cookies, if desired. Does Firefox automatically delete temporary Internet files (if there is such a thing)? If not automatic, how do I manually delete them?

The equivalent of temporary internet files in Firefox is the cache. For details on clearing it see how to clear the cache. As that article explains, you can set Firefox to automatically clear the cache when you close Firefox if you want. For deleting other Firefox data see clear recent history.

In Firefox 3.6 by default it will use 50MB for the cache, automatically deleting older items as required.
