FIREFOX 3.6.6 FREEEZEZ ON GOOGLE FIRST SEARCH PAGE

Dear Mozilla,

As of the last update to 3.6.6 when one searches anything in GOOGLE the Firefox will take you to the first searched page. Any attempts to click on any other page or the 'next' arrow results in a little box appearing where you are clicking and then basically nothing.

That's all you get. The web address for the next page search appears in the address bar but the page never appears...Firefox leaves you sitting one page in.

If you hit the 'refresh' icon the browser will move to the next indicated page but then that's it again. Help!!! I rolled bacl to version 3.5.6 but this still keeps occurring, suggesting that my registry has become corrupted in regards to Mozilla. Thanks Bill

I had this problem at 8am yesterday (Mac OSX 10.4.11), now it's working correctly (12:30am). I guess it was google....

I have the same problem on Linux (Centos 5).

A crude workaround is to hit the F5 key after you click and the click doesn't do anything. I agree this has to be fixed, and that the F5 workaround is too annoying to live with, but it's better that having to use IE.

The same problem with Windows XP SP3.

Same problem - using Win7 x64/FF3.6.6 - seems google-specific - yahoo works fine (but seems slow), for example and so does google in IE8. Also, the problem still occurs if I run FF3.6.6 in safe mode w/ no add-ons.

When the problem occurs w/ google, the URL updates to the new search term(s), but the page does not refresh (as others have reported).

Is FF trying to intercept google search terms? I hope not.

Same Problem...running Mac OS X

I have the same problem using windows 7 64 bit OS. I only have the problem with FF/google. FF/other search engines work fine. And Google Chrome works fine everywhere - I'll probably just switch to Google Chrome - it's actually better than FF anyway. FF is/was awesome but Google Chrome kicks ass.

This is a widespread problem. I am now seeing it pop up on a bunch of message boards (so far none of them postulate any solutions other than it could be a problem with the registry upon upgrade).

There is also another Mozilla message board thread currently discussing this problem. It was originally a thread about problems with Google search and Firefox 3.5.1 back in 2009 but it has now expanded to cover this latest problem with the current upgrade

It can be found here: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/399500?forumId=1&comments_threshold=0&comments_parentId=399500&comments_offset=0&comments_per_page=20&thread_style=commentStyle_plain

Please post any solutions or helpful links regarding this problem.

Thanks.

It's Google, they broke something. Same problem on all versions of Firefox on all operating systems, apparently, see the other thread in this forum:

Workarounds:

1) Reload the page (CTRL-R) after submitting the new search terms (ugh) 2) Use HTTPS (https://www.google.com)

Nothing public from Google yet, although I don't find that at all surprising.

Same problem . Very annoying. I have now turned off automatic updates but please fix this as going to an earlier version does not seem to help

Here is another workaround:

Login to your Google account. The Google navigation should function properly.

I am having the same exact problem. At first, I thought it was a spyware. However, after scanning my system with various antispyware software and detecting no spyware on my system, I realized that the issue is something to do with Google. I get the same long URLs and different tracking IDs in the urls of the google results when using IE7 and Chrome. I believe it's something on google's end.

I was able to solve the problem by clearing all of the recent history, except for the active logins.

I have the exact same problem. I search something on google and then when I want to start from THAT page to make a search or add words to my search I have to go back to the google homepage to do it. Otherwise the url changes at the top of the screen when I hit enter or hit the search button and nothing happens. IE8 is fine though....

Just tried clearing everything except the active logins but it didn't do any good =[

Same problem. Misery doesn't love company. Tried everything to fix it and am not eager to return to IE.

The Google navigation and search button problems seems fixed now. Request that everyone else verify as well.

Can also report it appears fixed, at least functionally. However, as reported at the beginning of this thread, "any attempts to click on any other page or the 'next' arrow results in a little box appearing", which is very annoying but certainly not a show-stopper.

Thanks to everyone out there for keeping on top of this issue. I wonder who, if anybody, is going to 'fess up about what happened.

Personally, I uninstalled FF and all my settings (dating back many years) because of this. Not exactly a happy camper ...

I have the same problem on Windows XP 32-bit. It's okay with JavaScript _disabled_, and Internet Explorer 8 and Opera (10.10) are okay too.

I'm really surprised it's even possible for FireFox to not work with Google. That has to be the most common real-world scenario for web browsing that exists today (most popular web browser plus most popular search engine). How did this make it past a normal regression test for new releases?

Same problem here. Toolbar doesn't work. It seems to be a problem of google toolbar v 7.1, because when I uninstall this version and install v5 it works fine. But then when I restart the firefox once again it update the toolbar to 7.1 ¬¬
