Thunderbird was updating when we lost power. When power was restored, Thunderbird would not start and gave me the following message:

Procedure ENTRY POINT ??1SOUNDTOUCH@SOUNDTOUCH@UAE@XZ could not be located in the DYNAMIC LINK LIBRARY C:\Program Files (x86)\MOZILLA THUNDERBIRD\XUL.811

This message was followed by: couldn't load xpcom

just reinstall Thunderbird from thunderbird.net. That should clear the failed update with a working version.

Matt, thank you for your assistance. Will the reinstall leave my message folders intact? I can't afford to lose some messages. Thanks in advance, Tony

I does not touch the user profile. that is one of the goog things about Thunderbird. It separates the user/account settings from the program, unlike most windows applications that put stuff in the registry any uninstalling removes it.
