Support volunteers can't tell you for sure one way or the other whether you can trust this add-on.

In order to perform actions on your system outside of Firefox's security perimeter, some extensions require additional executable files. The code is outside of the extension itself, and I don't think the Add-ons team or its review system checks those executables. Therefore, there are some extra risks that other kinds of add-ons do not raise.
