Has anyone had the problem of mistakenly hitting "Attach" while in the main TB window and have all of their emails in the inbox maked as having an attachment?
Hello:
The outgoing mail message window was partially overlaying the main TB window. I had an attachment to add to the email but inadvertently hit the Attachment Icon in the main window. All of the mail messages is my inbox were then flagged as having an attachment. Obviously that should not happen but worse how do I reverse that action, while keeping the legitimate attachment flags?
See SS
Thanks,
Frank

There is no attachment icon in the main window, nor can you put one there. So how your situation came about cannot be what you think.
Your Inbox may have been corrupted, so try this:
1. Backup the Profile folder. In fact, you should do this regularly in any case. Backup the entire computer regularly.
2. Right-click the Inbox, choose Properties, then click the Repair Folder button.
3. Select the Inbox, then Compact Folders. Menu: File: Compact folders.
4. The Thunderbird Inbox is the most used folder, with e-mails going into and out of it all the time. Thus it is the most vulnerable to being corrupted. Therefore you need to treat it carefully. Please read and follow the advice in the article Keep it working - Thunderbird. If you don't follow this advice, your Inbox will continue to get corrupted occasionally, and you may lose e-mails when it happens.
Thank you for your response Bruce.
My mistake, it was not the main window, it was the menu item over the Inbox window that has the Attachment item. The hint says that it is supposed to Show attachments but I am pretty sure that I clicked that menu item but at this point would not swear to it.
Regardless of even if I didn't click the Attachment item over the Inbox and instead clicked on the one in the message panel the result was that every email in the inbox showed up has having an attachment as per my screenshot which were not there before doing whatever it was that I did. If the inbox got corrupted its possible that happened because of what I did as it was not corrupted beforehand.
Regardless, the problem has been corrected by completely deleting the account and re-adding it. At this time I am not going to try to recreate whatever it was that I did. I guess I've been lucky all these years that my Inbox has never been corrupted, although I have cleaned it out and rebuilt it from scratch from time to time.
Thank you,
Frank
