Is Version 13.6.0 the same in Windows Vista as it is in Linux?

A friend uses Thunderbird 13.6.0 in Linux. I receive his e-mails on AOL, and because they arrive as text files rather than HTML, AOL manages to display them with wildly varying line lengths, never more than 72 characters long, regardless of the width of the window, and no graphic symbols (smileys). The 72 character line length that is the default in Thunderbird Plain Text seems to confuse AOL's mail display. This doesn't happen in Yahoo Mail or G-Mail. I have suggested that he could check the box for Rich Text/ HTML rather than Plain Text at <<Tools> Account Settings > Composition and Addressing > check box >>. He says it's not located there. We both have the same version (13.6.0). Is Linux involved in this? Is his version 13.6.0 offering different settings? I can find the check box here on Thunderbird with Windows Vista, but we can't seem to find it on his Linux based version of Thunderbird.

The menu's are a bit different, so are the names sometimes. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences_in_Windows,_Linux,_and_Mac

There was no Tthunderbird 13.6.0 (there was 13.0 and 13.0.1 back in June 2012) as perhaps you meant Tb 31.6.0

The Menus in Thunderbird/Firefox on Windows, Mac OSX and Linux are due to the OS Human Interface Guidelines as Gnome HIG for Linux and Apple HIG for Mac OSX.
