Paypal is loading incorrectly as text-only. I've cleared the history, cookies, and cache without success. Paypal loads correctly with IE.

Sounds like Firefox won't load the required CSS files.

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.

It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

You can open the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer). Check on the Network tab if content from a specific domain is blocked and has a file size 0 (zero).

I loaded it in safe mode. It loaded the page correctly. When I returned to use the browser not in safe mode it still viewed correctly.

Safe mode is not a solution but rather a diagnostic. If the issue doesn't happen in safe mode, they an extension that you have installed on Firefox is most likely causing the issue. Now you have to use trial-and-error to figure out which one(s) is causing the issue, by disabling them one-by-one and checking see when the issue goes away.

So... it's good now?

I'm not sure why that sometimes fixes it, but hats off to Wesley for the suggestion.

It's still working, in non-safe mode now. I'll have to see if it continues to work.

I'm having trouble again. When I pay for an item on eBay it takes me to a Paypal screen that is text-only. I'll try to fix this using the suggestions.

Did you check the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer)?
