High CPU consumption (constantly between 12 and 30%)

I am running Firefox 9.0.1 for Mac. Until upgrading to 9.0.1 I didn't have any high CPU consumption issues... I now constantly have between 12% and 30% CPU utilization and sometimes up much further than that, which actually slows down my Mac to a point where I have to kill Firefox in order to use other applications.

I have a new Mac mini with fast CPU and 8GB RAM.

I have tried reinstalling and also disabling the 4 add-ons that I have installed. After a fresh install and all 4 add-ons disabled, I see exactly the same problem even with a single tab open at google.com

Any help from the community is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

Hi floridabrits,

Have you looked at the Knowledge Base article Firefox uses too much memory or CPU resources - How to fix? There is also some good information in Firefox uses too much memory or CPU resources - How to fix.

Hopefully this helps!

Thanks for your quick response Matt, but I tried most of that before posting as I had seen it in another post. If you have any other ideas that might help I'd be open to trying them.

Is anyone working on a bugfix for a similar type issue?

Many thanks.
