As Matt said here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/990923?

"Try forward as an attachment. It is on the message menu (Alt+M)

Certain mail client make a mess of encoding images, Thunderbird decodes them, but does not correct the issues when they are forwarded so the images are not visible. If my supposition is correct forward as attachment will show images."

I can easily forward attachments but have to save file to disk and then after opening the message ready for forwarding, have to recover the file and then attach it manually. I really thought attachments would automatically follow any forwarded email without having to manually recover and reattach. [Needs to be done exactly the same way as a newly created email]
