Recently when I upgraded to Firefox 10 I have had strage behaviour when selecting text input fields.

When I first boot firefox, all is fine. But after a while the blinking cursor that shows up when you type stops showing up. When I try to type my query into the google search in the top right (and instantly gives you suggestions on what you're trying to type) those don't show up.

Similar behaviour is found when I try to type a URL in the URL box in the top and usually results show up guessing what kind of URL you are typing in, nothing shows up. This behaviour somtimes gets so bad that I can't even select a text field and type into it on a normal web page (like the YouTube search box at the top).

I've tried booting Firefox with addons disabled, and the issue still presists.

I am running Windows Vista SP2.

(I have not done a reinstallation yet, but I find that as a radical, last choice since I have 6-8 addons installed that greatly help with my web browsing.)

Yes I to have this problem I am running windows7 32 bit and it seems that every time the menu bar tabs glow I cannot see my cursor any more, I dont know why but that is the only time I have problems and I also have to open a new tab and use the home button because I cannot go to any page using a url.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

This did not solve my issue, sorry.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
