I have an ACER laptop running Firefox. The computer is about five years old Today (Monday) I had got an alert that said my computer was infected with viruses. Apparently my computer was taken over, as I couldn't do anything until I downloaded their S/W. It ran a scan, and said I had 52 viruses. I downloaded their antivirus S/W (Security Protection), and I was then able to log onto the internet, and check my mail, etc. Unfortunately, when I went to print a page, I got an alert that said I had no printers. I went into my control Panel, for Printers and Faxes, and it is empty, except for an app that says "add a printer".

Any help for me?

Thanks

Gene

Was that virus scan message from your software application which was already installed on your PC?

If not, you may be the victim of "phishing" to get you to download something which could cause harm to your PC.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
